You might recognize this Forever 21 from a post I did earlier where I styled it for a dressier look. I talked about my love for the skater style — and it’s $20 price point — in the previous post, and my opinions haven’t changed much since.
I wore this on the hottest day of the weekend in New York and the dress was easy and comfortable, yet I never felt as though I was sacrificing style for comfort.
I’ve paired this look with my Sam Edelman Gigi Sandals, perfect in the summer heat, as well as my Gucci Soho crossbody bag, which was my go-to throughout my entire time in NYC.
My boyfriend and I travelled to New York City this past weekend to visit one of our best friends and also managed to get some site-seeing in at the same time. Unfortunately, we happened to arrive on one of the hottest weekend of the summer, but we didn’t want that to stop us from taking in the views.
This outfit is a combination of my American Eagle denim (also worn here), as well as my new Wilfred blouse from Aritzia that I’ve been loving (I wore it in a dressier post, seen here). I’m also wearing my Gucci Soho crossbody chain bag, which is from the same line as the more popular Gucci Disco Bag.
The nice thing about this Gucci bag is that it can be worn several different ways, from a clutch with the chain tucked inside, to the more casual crossbody, I find this is a bag I am reaching for more and more as I fully realize its versatility.
Finally, on my feet I’m wearing my Rebecca Minkoff Georgina sandals, which stayed comfortable throughout the day, despite walking over 12 miles through the city.

The WOC or wallet on a chain seems to be something people either love or they hate.
Do you like to carry everything with you at all times? Then maybe the WOC isn’t for you.
WOC’s are not handbag replacements. A wallet on a chain probably won’t be your be-all-end-all bag. Whether it’s a bottle of hand-sanitizer or your most loved compact, you’re going to find something you want to bring with you that a wallet on a chain isn’t going to carry.
Now, that being said, WOCs have become such a staple fashion accessory that you can find them in all different shapes and sizes. From larger sizes, like the Chanel WOC that brought the style into fashion, to my Prada WOC (or even smaller versions), your choices when it comes to a wallet on the chain have never been more endless.
But the question I found myself asking before the purchase, and the question many of you are probably asking yourself is: is a wallet on a chain worth it?
For me, it was. And here’s why:
Yes, this is a wallet. No, it won’t fit all of your things. But it will, on occasion, have the multi-tasking ability to be both. Are you carrying a work tote but wanting to run out for a lunch meeting? Grab your WOC. Going on an overnight trip and don’t want to worry about what bag you’ll bring if you go out? Bring your WOC.
I don’t know about you, but I hate carrying a heavy bag. I know a lot of us put up with it for style, and I’m all for a handbag completing an outfit, but there is just no way you are going to see me lugging around a 10-lb bag when I’m in the city for 8 hours. My WOC, on the other hand, is so light sometimes I literally forget I’m wearing it.
As much as I adore my handbags and as much as I love choosing the exact right one for each outfit, there is something really great about being able to take the decision out of the choice. When I’m just running to the grocery store, or taking my dog for a walk, I do not want to deliberate on what bag to choose. The WOC makes that choice for me. I don’t need to think about this bag. I just grab it and go.

What WOC would you choose?
Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift, or thinking of adding an item to your own wardrobe, I’ve curated a list of pieces perfect for this summer season.
I’ve been on the search for the perfect wool fedora for a while, and this Rag & Bone one is a definite contender. Though, it is on the pricey side, so I’m also considering less expensive options, like this awesome dupe from Forever 21.
As you may know, I already own the Georgina sandals in black (see them here), but love them so much in this blush color too. They’re perfect for summer and stay comfortable for hours.
These Kate Spade studs are the perfect modern twist to a classic pair of pearls.
How beautiful is this top? It combines the stripes and off-the-shoulder trend together in this lovely top. And it’s only $35!
I love this knot bangle from Kate Spade. I think it could look great either on its own or within a stack.
I really like this GMYLE phone case designed to look like marble. It has great reviews and looks like it’ll add protection and keep the phone stylish at the same time.
I love Chloe perfumes, though I’ve never taken the plunge. But, Chloe’s Love Story might be the one.
I recently picked up this Wilfred Sevres blouse from Aritzia’s clientele sale, and I have to say that I’ve been getting a ton of wear out of it.
You may have noticed I’m obsessed with taupe lately — I think it stems from my love of purple as a child — and this top is literally the perfect shade of it. I also think it’s a great, simple style to have in your wardrobe. It works with a dressier skirt, like above, but also with jeans for a more casual look.
This bandeau skirt is a classic from BCBG Max Azria that I’ve had for years. It holds up well and goes with so many things, it’s totally a wardrobe staple of mine. I’m even thinking of purchasing it in this longer version too.
I’m also wearing my wallet on a chain from Prada, which is a most loved bag of mine for dressier occasions. It works so well dressed up, and yet transitions seamlessly to more casual looks as well.
