I know I haven’t been around this fall as much as I should have, but if it’s any consolation, this exact outfit has basically been what I’ve been wearing on repeat for the entire season. I love black denim paired with my comfortable and easy Sam Edelman Petty Booties (you can see them styled here too). The black on black look gives the illusion of an elongated leg that you’d get from a taller boot, but with the ease of an ankle bootie.
I’m also absolutely in love with this Aronson Sweater from Aritzia’s Wilfred Free line. It is incredibly warm and soft, and honestly, looks like it cost way more than it actually did. My top is also from Aritzia, and it was a favorite of mine during the summer months too (you can see it styled here & here as well).
Finally, I’ve finished my favorite fall look with my Gucci Soho Crossbody bag and my Burberry watch, both of which are on constant rotation in my closet all year long.
Leading up to Christmas next month, I’ll be posting a series of gift guides to help you get prepared for the season. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and I truly love finding the perfect gift for everyone on my list. So with these gift guides, I hope I can help you do the same.
I’m starting out with a book lover’s gift guide, as I’m actually a huge book reader. And I also happen to think books make wonderful gifts.
Books can make you see the world differently, and by gifting a book, you can pass that new perspective on to someone else. What Alice Forgot, for example, has a way of helping you learn to appreciate the things you have, by giving you a fresh set of eyes about the things that matter most.
Also, with the exception of Small Great Things, I’ve read every book on this list. I’ve loved each one of them, which is why they’re in this guide. In fact, the only reason I haven’t read Jodi Picoult’s latest hit is because it’s still on my own wishlist. Though I’ve read many others by her, and so I’m sure it’ll be just as powerful.
I’ve sectioned the list into three categories, because something you gift your mother or your best friend might be different than what you gift a boyfriend or a great guy in your life. My boyfriend, for example, was OBSESSED with Invisible by James Patterson. As was I.
I’ve also added a kindle at the end, because if the person you are gifting is anything like me, then they probably need a place to store their never-ending book collection. And a virtual space with lots of room is always a good way to start.
Here in Toronto, we’ve had several fairly chilly days, which makes me mourn for this look, and what might be the last sunny day we Torontonians will see for a while.
This outfit isn’t always the most flattering, but that’s a sacrifice you sometimes need to make for oversized fall clothing. Plus, this shawl has a way of bringing comfort with it wherever it goes. It doesn’t matter that this is a dressier look, with heeled sandals, because the shawl brings it down a level for casual date nights or a dinner out with the girls. The look is both thrown together, and yet put together all at the same time.
Wallet on a Chain: Prada | Sweater: Wilfred Free | Shades: Ray-Ban | Jeans: American Eagle | Boots: Sam Edelman
So after a bit of blogging hiatus, I finally have a fashion post from a recent, beautiful fall day. I love this look because it resembles an easy style that I constantly return to as the weather cools down.
In fact, there is nothing in this outfit that I can’t re-wear on almost a daily basis. I love everything from my black Sam Edelman booties, which were a part of my post on Investment Shoes Under $150, to my tried-and-trusted black Ray-Ban aviators. To be honest, there isn’t anything in this look that I wouldn’t give a glowing recommendation for.
